 4th Louth Scouts

We are 4th Louth Scouts, the current Louth Scout County Campcraft Champions and current holders of the Scouting Ireland National Campcraft Challenge, the Phoenix Challenge. We are also current holders of the National "Programme Bases" and "Engineering" Challenge trophies.


​We are Scouting Ireland's most active Scout Troop and we do our thing every Monday night at the Drogheda Scout Centre, Crushrod Avenue.

To be a member, you will be required to have  commitment, loyalty, a hard work ethic and a sense of adventure. 

We meet every Monday night in our scout hall, 8.00pm - 9.30pm

Camping Gear Required for ALL Camps

The following items are required by all scouts for all camps

Rucksack (lined with black sack)
Sleeping Bag
Roll Mat
1 Change of Clothes per day
Rain Gear (actual waterproof jacket!)
Wash Gear (toothbrush and toothpaste, soap/shower gel) and Towel
Plate, Bowl and Cup
Knife, Fork and Spoon
​​​​​​​Hiking Boots
Sun Cream (all camps between May and Sept).
Knife (Only those Scouts who have completed knife handling training course)
Head-Torch
Scouting Trail
Tea Towel
Cleansing Wipes
Two Brillo Pads
1 Box of Matches
2 plastic bags (for dirty clothes)​

Essential Equipment for ALL Scouts...

Each member of 4th Louth Scouts will need to purchase the following items:

Scouting Trail
​Scouting Ireland Whistle
Head torch
​Knife (with belt clip)
​Bivy Bag/Survival Bag
Flint & Steel

​Package cost €75. (reduce by €20 for those who already own a scouting trail book).

Navigating (All the way from the USA)

The link below was sent to us by a Scout Leader in America. Their Scouts had spotted our content about "Using a Compass" and were inspired to create their own content. One of their superstar scouts called Skylar had the idea to try creating a map and compass scavenger hunt, perhaps by using punch cards at different locations and ending with a prize.  She even went as far as to design and publish the guide below based around triangulating location and gaining map/compass skills. What a great Scout! and lots for us to learn from too. Here is the link:
